Patient information on skin cancer
Skin cancer prophylaxis
The International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative is our sister organization in North-America and Australia.

I. Task

To standardize and collect epidemiological data on skin diseases in OTR

  • Collection of pre-existing epidemiological data
  • Pan European Epidemiological Studies
    • - Skin cancer
    • - Skin infections
    • - Immunosuppression

II. Task

To establish a consensus for prophylaxis and therapy of NMSC and skin infections in OTR

  • Consensus on prophylactic guidelines (including patient education)
  • Consensus on dermatological aftercare intervals and procedures
  • Consensus on therapeutical standards (incl. initiation of new studies if needed)

III. Task

To define further fields of common research interests

  • Direct and indirect function of immunosuppressive agents as cancer inductors and promoters
  • Pathology of UV-radiation induced immunosuppression and skin cancer induction
  • Role of oncogenous viruses in the setting of systemic immunosuppression

IV. Task

Extension of surveillance and knowledge

  • Establishing of local networks in each county
  • Patient / GP information – slides
  • Internet activities (website) and other media
  • Public relations (sponsors, industry, patient support groups, TX-surgeons)
  • 'Medical awareness': Joint publications, satellite symposia, meetings
